Pakistan announced volleyball squad for home series against Australia

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) today Friday 24th May 2024 announced its fourteen-member squad for the three-match volleyball series against Australia, marking the first time the Australian team is visiting Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Volleyball Federation Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, the Pakistan squad is prepared with its full strength to compete in this highly anticipated event. The series against the strong Australian team is expected to be a thrilling competition for both teams.
The Australian twenty-member squad will arrive in Islamabad on Sunday, May 26. The first match of the three-match series will be held on May 28 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. The second match will take place on May 29, followed by the third and final match of the series on May 30.
“All matches will begin at 6:30 PM, and entry for fans and supporters is free,” said Chaudhry Yaqoob. He encouraged fans to come and cheer for the green shirts, who recently showed excellent performance by winning the Central Asian Volleyball League.
Chaudhry Yaqoob also expressed his commitment to promoting the game of volleyball at both national and international levels. He highlighted the need for full government support to utilize maximum resources for the promotion of volleyball, emphasizing that despite the lack of resources, strenuous efforts are being made to improve standards to compete internationally.
Murad Jehan will lead the green shirts in the series, with Muhammad Kashif Naveed appointed as Vice-Captain. The fourteen-member Pakistan squad includes Waleed Khan, Murad Khan, Aimal Khan, Usman Faryad Ali, Fakhar Ud Din, Afaq Khan, Abdul Zaheer, Musawer Khan, Muhammad Hamad, Haider Ali, Nasir Ali, and Muhammad Yaseen.
Argentinian Ruben Wolochin will be the head coach of the team. Saeed Ahmed Khan Sady and Ehsan Iqbal have been named assistant coaches. Brazilian Lucas Rodrigues will serve as the physical trainer, while Muhammad Ismail Khan, Muhammad Sulaiman Amin, and Juan Cobucci from Argentina will join the team as Assistant Scoutmen.
