Rain spoils Pak-England WC preparations

By AZ Khan
ISLAMABAD: Persistent rain damaged Pakistan and England preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup as their opener of the four-match T20I series was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Headingley Leeds.
The decision to abandone the game came before the scheduled kick-off of the game which might have tested git-again Jofra Archer and Haris Rauf before the Saturday deadline for announcing squads of the World Cup.
Now both Pakistan and England will need to take tough decisions without knowing the fitness condition of their pacers Jofra Archer and Haris.
Although changes are allowed relating to injuries even after the squads deadline of May 25 but team management definitely would have shocked over the game washout like this.
Now both sides will face each other in Edgebaston on Saturday, Cardiff on Tuesday and at the Oval on Thursday before they will fly out of England for North America for the World Cup.
Pacer Hasan Ali has already released early this morning for his county stint.
