Pakistani wrestlers surge into finals at Asian Beach Games

SANYA (China): Pakistani wrestlers dominated the mat on Tuesday at the 6th Asian Beach Games, with two athletes securing spots in their respective gold medal finals and a third moving into a bronze medal contention.
The day’s highlights were headlined by veteran star Muhammad Inam Butt and rising talent Asadullah, who both navigated tough brackets to keep Pakistan’s hopes for multiple gold medals alive.
In the 90kg category, Muhammad Inam Butt maintained his formidable form, defeating his Bahraini opponent in the quarter-final before overcoming a strong Mongolian wrestler in the semi-final to clinch his final berth.
In the 80kg category, Asadullah defeated his traditional rival from India in a high-stakes quarter-final. He followed this with a semi-final victory over the host nation’s Chinese representative to qualify for the final.
In the 70kg category, Muhammad Abdullah advanced to the semi-finals after a win over Thailand in the quarter-final. Despite a hard-fought battle, he fell to his Indian opponent in the semi-final and is now scheduled to face a wrestler from Kyrgyzstan in tomorrow’s bronze medal match.
Officials from the Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) lauded the team’s performance, stating the athletes have brought immense pride to the nation. The federation highlighted that these results are a testament to the intensive training and preparation ahead of the Games.
The Asian Beach Games continue through April 30, with Pakistan now positioned for a significant jump in the medal standings.
