Pakistan conquer New Zealand to go 1-0 up

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan took 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand when they conquered the visitors by seven wickets in the second show here at the Pindi Stadium on Saturday night.
Pakistan rode on the solid batting heroics of Mohammad Rizwan (45 not out) to achieve the 91-run target with 47 balls to spare
Rozwan, who became the fastest batsman of the world to complete 300 runs, struck four fours and one six, the winning one, to complete Pakistan’s victory.
Earlier Pakistan started their chase in a poor style when Saim Ayub was dislodged only off the second ball for four. Skipper Babar Azam Lao failed to stay long and was dismissed by Michael Bracewell for just 14.
Ish Sochi then removed Usman Khan for just seven.
Irfan Khan Niazi then joined Rizwan and both added 36 runs for the fourth wicket unbroken stand to take their side over the line with an enviable ease.
Earlier it were the Pakistani bowlers who put New Zealand in great trouble by taking wickets at regular intervals and folded them for just 90 runs, a total which Pakistan could easily chase.
Only two batsmen of New Zealand could enter double figures.
Shaheer Afridi led the bowling pack by taking 3-13 which also earned him a man of the match award while Mohammad Amir,who returned to national side after four years, Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan took two wickets each. Naseem Shah claimed one wicket.
The first game has been washed out due to rain the other day while both sides will face again tonight at the same venue. The final two matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on April 25 and 27
