Hockey Olympian Manzoor Junior passes away

LAHORE: Hockey Olympian and 1984 Los Angelis Olympics gold medallist Manzoor Junior died today here due to cardiac failure.

He was also member of Pakistan’s World Cups winnings squad in 1978 and 1982. He is still regarded as hero of the 1982 World Cup final. The deceased breathed his last at a hospital in Lahore. His funeral details are yet to be known.

Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) president Brigadier (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and secretary general Haider Hussain have condoled the death of the Olympian.

“He was a crucial asset for Pakistan hockey and his services for the national sport can never be ignored,” PHF said in a press statement.
