Abdul Subhan (4-20) puts Pakistan in the Under-19 Asia Cup final

Pakistan chase 122-run target in 16.3 overs with Sameer blasting 69 not out

LAHORE: Pakistan under-19s booked a place in the final of the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup after a commanding eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh under-19s in a rain-affected semi-final in Dubai on Friday.
The contest at the Sevens Stadium was reduced to 27 overs per side following overnight rain and a delayed start due to a wet outfield. Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and chose to field, a decision that proved decisive as his bowlers dismissed Bangladesh for 121 in 26.3 overs.
Right-arm fast bowler Abdul Subhan spearheaded Pakistan’s attack, claiming four wickets to halt Bangladesh’s progress during the middle overs. Huzaifa Ahsan provided effective support with two wickets while Ali Raza, Mohammad Sayyam and Ahmed Hussain took one apiece as Bangladesh struggled to build momentum.
Samiun Basir was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 33 runs, but regular wickets prevented them from posting a competitive total.
Pakistan’s reply was swift and assured. Chasing a modest target, they reached 122 for two in 16.3 overs. Opener Sameer Minhas anchored the innings with an unbeaten 69 from 57 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes to guide the chase without alarm.
Usman Khan added impetus with a quick 27, including two fours and two sixes, while Ahmed Hussain remained unbeaten on 11 as Pakistan sealed victory comfortably.
Pakistan will face India in the final on Sunday, Dec. 21, at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. local time.
Scores in brief:
Bangladesh U19 121 all out in 26.3 overs (Samiun Basir 33; Abdul Subhan 4-20, Huzaifa Ahsan 2-10)
Pakistan U19 122 for 2 in 16.3 overs (Sameer Minhas 69 not out, Usman Khan 27)
Result: Pakistan U19 won by eight wickets
Player of the match: Abdul Subhan (Pakistan U19)
