LAHORE: The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced the sale of its international media rights for the upcoming season, securing a one-year global agreement that underscores the tournament’s growing appeal beyond Pakistan.
The international media rights for HBL PSL 11, excluding the India region, were awarded to Walee Technologies after the company submitted the highest successful bid, exceeding the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) reserve price.
On a like-for-like basis for the same territories, the deal represents a 149% increase in value compared with the previous rights cycle, highlighting the league’s expanding global footprint and rising commercial value.
PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer said the sharp increase reflected growing confidence in the league as one of the leading Twenty20 competitions in world cricket.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the international media rights sale, which has delivered a remarkable 149% increase over the last cycle for the same regions,” Naseer said. “This growth is a strong validation of the HBL PSL brand, its competitive quality and its increasing appeal to cricket fans around the world.”
He added that sustained international interest reinforced confidence in the league’s long-term commercial prospects and its ability to deliver value across diverse markets.
“We are grateful to Walee Technologies for breaking past records in this new era,” Naseer said. “The continued rise in international media rights value reflects the collective efforts of franchises, players and partners who have helped position the HBL PSL as a globally recognised cricket property.”
Walee Technologies Chief Executive Muhammad Ahsan Tahir described the agreement as a milestone for Pakistan’s technology sector.
“This is a victory for everyone who believes in ‘Made in Pakistan’ technology,” Tahir said. “This is just the start of our HBL PSL journey, and we have ambitious plans for the league’s international audiences.”
Launched in 2016, the HBL PSL has recorded steady commercial growth across broadcast rights, sponsorships and digital platforms, establishing itself as Pakistan’s most valuable sporting brand and a regular feature in the global T20 calendar.
The PCB and PSL management said they would continue to invest in enhancing the international broadcast product and expanding the league’s reach, aiming to engage fans worldwide on an even larger scale.
