LAHORE: Captain Tuba Hassan produced a dominant all-round display to lead the Stars to a 52-run victory over the Invincibles in the final of the National Women’s T20 Tournament at the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground on Sunday.
The victory saw the Stars successfully defend their title, securing the trophy and a winners’ prize of PKR 1.5 million.
Hassan was the star of the day, rescuing her side with the bat before dismantling the opposition with the ball. Coming in at number six with the Stars reeling at 96-7, she struck a 31-ball 50, featuring five fours and two sixes, to propel her team to a competitive 156-9 in their 20 overs.
Opener Sidra Amin provided an early impetus with 30 off 23 balls, including two sixes while Amber Kainat (2-20) and Momina Riasat (2-40) were the pick of the bowlers for the Invincibles.
In response, the Invincibles struggled to build momentum and were bundled out for 104 in 16.1 overs. Despite a brisk start from captain Muneeba Ali, who struck 27 off just 13 deliveries, the chase collapsed under the pressure of the Stars’ bowling attack.
Hassan followed up her fifty by claiming 3-6, while Ayesha Bilal also took three wickets for 12 runs. Omaima Sohail chipped in with two scalps to complete the rout.
Hassan’s performance earned her the Player of the Match award and a share of the Player of the Tournament title. She finished the competition with 192 runs and 10 wickets, sharing the top individual honor with Fatima Sana of the Conquerors.
Despite the loss, Invincibles’ captain Muneeba Ali was named the tournament’s best batter, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 344 runs at a strike rate of 142.74. Her teammate Momina Riasat took home the best bowler award for her 16 wickets throughout the campaign.
