Sprinter Arooj tested positive, provisionally suspended

By our correspondent
LAHORE: Pakistan’s female sprinter Arooj Kiran has been tested positive for using prohibited substances.
She has been provisionally suspended until the case is decided.
Her A sample for dope test had been taken on September 4 by a team of Anti-doping Organisation of Pakistan and was then sent to a WADA-accredited lab in Doha. The result shows that she has used anabolic androgenic steroids. October 20 was the last date and she had to confirm whether she would opt for the B sample tested.
Arooj and 400m specialist Sahib-e-Asra had been stopped by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) from proceeding to Hangzhou on September 26 to feature in the Asian Games because their dope tests results had been withheld for a retest.
However after a few hours surprisingly they were allowed to move to Hangzhou where they featured in their respective events in the Asian Games.
