LAHORE: Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem has been invited to attend the World Sports Summit, to be held in Dubai on December 29–30, providing another milestone for the country’s sporting community.
Nadeem will be the only Pakistani athlete participating in the high-profile event, which brings together elite athletes, senior sports administrators and global stakeholders to celebrate sporting excellence and discuss the future of international sport.
The summit is expected to feature some of the most recognisable names in world sport, including football greats Ronaldo Nazário and Paolo Maldini, tennis champions Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams and Sania Mirza, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and former NFL star Reggie Bush.
The 28-year-old Nadeem rose to national prominence after winning gold in the men’s javelin throw at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic medal in athletics and ending a decades-long wait for podium success in the sport. He clinched the title with an Olympic-record throw of 92.97 metres.
Standing 1.91 metres tall, Nadeem has established himself among the world’s leading javelin throwers. His career achievements include a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships and a bronze at the Asian Games.
In 2025, Nadeem continued to compete at the highest level, adding another gold medal by winning the javelin throw at the 35th National Games with a best effort of 81.81 metres.
His invitation to the World Sports Summit underscores his growing stature on the global sporting stage and highlights Pakistan’s renewed presence in elite international athletics.
