Mohammad Shafiq retains his seat as PHF president

LAHORE: Mohammad Shafiq has retained his seat as president of Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) while Mrs Saqlain Kausar has been elected as secretary general.
In the electoral meeting held the other day Shafiq won the coveted seat for another four-year term. Shafiq is also the secretary of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and also founder of the PHF. He has been playing a leading role in the development of handball in the country for the last few decades. Ziaullah was elected as treasurer.
Those elected as vice-presidents include: Mrs Amna Tanvir, Athar Ismail AmJAD, Bahre Karam, Suleman Junaid, Javed Ali Memon and Mohammad Afzal. Sohaib Shafiq has got the seat of assistant secretary while Sher Mohammad got elected as associate secretary along with Mrs Alia Altaf.
The ExCo members include Abdul Saboor, Awais Akbar, Mrs Faiza Manzoor and Pervez Iqbal.
The chair also informed the house about the new developments in the calendar 2024-2025 which were received recently after the approval of the calendar 2024-2025.
National Men’s Handball Championship will be organized by Army at Bahawalpur in the last week of December.
National Women Championship will be held by HEC in the last week of February in Sialkot as informed by the representative of the HEC.
Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship will be organized by the Pakistan Handball Federation at Karachi on February 18-23. If there is any clash with the ICC Champions Trophy matches at Karachi then venue or dates will be changed.
The Commonwealth Women Universities Indoor Handball Championship will be organized at Faisalabad/Sialkot in collaboration with the HEC on April 10-15, 2025, on HEC request.
The representatives from Army, WAPDA, Railways, Police, HEC, Punjab Handball Association, Balochistan Handball Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Handball Association, Islamabad Handball Association, AJK Handball Association, Pakistan women Handball Association, Handball Referees Association of Pakistan and Athletes Commission attended the meeting. Muhammad Jahangir, Deputy Secretary General, Pakistan Olympic Association and chairman Pakistan Karate Federation also attended this meeting as observer from the POA.
