Hamza Khan gifted Pakistan world junior squash title after 37 years

LAHORE: Pakistan’s promising youngster Hamza Khan on Sunday gave the nation a big hope for a bright future when he conquered an Egyptian in the final to lift the World Junior Squash Championship crown in Melbourne on Sunday (today).

Hamza downed Mohamed Zakaria in the final 10-12, 14-12, 11-3 and 11-6.

After going down in the first set Hamza bounced back remarkably and went on to win the remaining three sets on the trot to seal a super win in the end
Hamza also became the first player to win the event for Pakistan after Jansher Khan, who cliched the title 37 years ago.

Zakaria took the first game 12-10, which lasted for 26 minutes to take the lead.

The second game was another thrilling encounter. The Pakistani player was down 8-10 but he denied Zakaria the much-needed game point twice and levelled the match with a 14-12 win.
