Asjad engineers the biggest upset

LAHORE: Former team World Cup champion Asjad Iqbal of Pakistan on Sunday pulled off the biggest upset when he downed defending champion Ali Alobaidli from Qatar 3-1 in the snooker World Cup being held in Mongolia.
Asjad beat the Qatri 3-1 with the frame score being 59-36, 63-26, 85-19, 70-58.
The win also pit Asjad in the pre-quarter-finals.
Meanwhile Pakistan’s other cueist Awaos Ullah Munir also made it to the pre-quarter-finals when he defeated Siyavosh Mozayani of Iran 3-1 with the frames score being 9-63, 78-34, 59-50, 73-13. Both Asjad and Awais won their all three matches in their respective groups.
The knock-out stage will begin on Tuesday.
