Pakistan sports delegation meets Sri Lankan Consul General

The delegation commends the arrangements and hospitality extended to visiting teams and fans during the ICC T20 World Cup

KARACHI: A delegation of RK Sports Management held a detailed meeting with Sri Lanka’s top diplomat in Karachi praising Colombo’s successful hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and exploring avenues for greater sports cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation, led by Chairman Atif Iqbal and comprising Vice Chairperson Irum Fawad, President Rais Khan and Executive Member Sher Bano Syed, held talks with Sri Lankan Consul General Sanjeeva Pattiwila at the Sri Lankan Consulate.
Congratulating Sri Lanka on the smooth conduct of the tournament the delegation commended the arrangements and hospitality extended to visiting teams and fans. Pattiwila said Sri Lanka had ensured comprehensive preparations for the global cricket event, adding that a large number of Pakistani spectators travelled to the island nation and appreciated the warm reception.
He noted that both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are demonstrating strong performances across various sports, underscoring the potential for deeper collaboration.
Iqbal briefed the consul general on RK Sports Management’s initiatives, saying the organisation focuses on identifying and nurturing grassroots talent to promote sports development. He expressed interest in organising joint sporting events with Sri Lanka and voiced hope for enhanced bilateral cooperation in the sector.
Rais Khan said Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy close ties and highlighted opportunities to expand collaboration not only in sports but also in cultural exchanges.
The meeting concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting. As a gesture of goodwill, Iqbal presented Pattiwila with a traditional Sindhi Ajrak on behalf of RK Sports Management, symbolising cultural friendship between the two nations.
