Pakistan set for tough test at Asian Beach Games handball

LAHORE: Pakistan’s national beach handball team will compete in the sixth Asian Beach Games scheduled to take place from April 22 to April 30, 2026, in Sanya, China, facing a challenging group-stage lineup in its bid to reach the knockout rounds.
Pakistan have been drawn in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Jordan, Maldives, Mongolia, Oman, Qatar and Thailand. Group A features Bahrain, India, Iran, Hong Kong, the Philippines, hosts China and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), in collaboration with the Pakistan Handball Federation, has launched a training camp at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad sand court from March 25 with preparations currently in full swing.
Pakistan will open their campaign on April 21 against Qatar. Later the same day, they will face Bangladesh. Pakistan have to their credit one gold, one silver and three bronze in the Asian Beach Games handball history.
Their subsequent fixtures include against Jordan on April 23, Thailand on April 24 and Mongolia later the same day. Pakistan will then take on Maldives on April 26 before concluding their group-stage matches against Oman on April 27, another strong contender and the reigning Asian champion.
A senior PHF official said that the team is in good form heading into the tournament.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for April 28 and April 30.
