Our Web Desk

JAKARTA: Abdul Rana’s late goal helped Pakistan salvage a 1-1 draw against arch-rivals India in their Group A opener of the Asia Cup Hockey here on Monday.

The 20-year old Karti Selvam gave Pakistan lead in the first quarter when he converted penalty corner. In the second and third quarter both sides tried to put pressure on each other but failed to strike.

In the last quarter Pakistan did try to level the score and it was Abdul Rana’s late goal just three minutes from full time on penalty corner which denied India  a sure win. India will now face Japan and Pakistan to meet Indonesia today.
