PCB names 49 players for national academy fitness and skill camps

Our Web Desk
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday the selection of 49 players for two concurrent high-performance camps at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to prepare for the upcoming international and domestic season.
The initiative splits the players into distinct red-ball and white-ball training groups, focusing heavily on physical fitness, technical skills and individualized coaching assessments.
The NCA Red-Ball Camp is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 8, and will run until Friday, July 10. A total of 22 players will participate in this camp. However, players who recently featured in Pakistan’s One-Day International series against Australia have been granted an extended break and will join their red-ball teammates on June 15.
Concurrently, a larger 27-member white-ball training block will commence on Monday, June 15, concluding on Friday, September 18. According to the PCB, both camps are designed to elevate the standard of the national pool. Players will undergo rigorous training under the supervision of national and academy coaches, alongside the PCB’s medical and sports science staff.
The programme also features mandatory one-on-one sessions between players and coaches to align personal development with international performance benchmarks. The development follows a similar dual-camp strategy recently deployed by the PCB ahead of the men’s national team tour to Bangladesh and the home ODI series against Australia. The red-ball roster includes established test figures such as national captain Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saud Shakeel, alongside rising bowling talents Obaid Shah and Khurram Shehzad. The white-ball camp features frontline pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, all-rounder Shadab Khan, and explosive top-order batters Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, alongside a heavy influx of developmental youth prospects.

22 red-ball camp players:
Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Fazal, Abrar Ahmed, Ali Usman, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, Babar Azam, Imam ul Haq, Khurram Shehzad, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Awais Zafar, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Obaid Shah, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saqib Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shahzad Gul and Shan Masood

27 white-ball camp players:
Abdul Samad, Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Fakhar Zaman, Farhan Yousaf, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Khawaja Muhammad Nafay, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah, Razaullah, Rohail Nazir, Saad Baig, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Sameer Minhas, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shamyl Hussain, Sufyan Moqim and Usman Khan
