LAHORE: Australia’s former batsman David Warner will lead Karachi Kings in the HBL PSL 10 which will begin at four different venues of the country from April 11.
He had been picked in the platinum category by the Kings at the players draft of the marquee league held in Lahore’s historic Hazuri Bagh.
This will also be his debut event in the country’s major league.
But the important thing about Warner is that he has wealth of experience in all three formats and also has the experience of captaining the sides in various professional leagues around the world.
His sharp but steady approach may help in Kings steady run in the PSL.
Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal has welcomed Warner on being appointed as Kings skipper.
“Warner’s performance as a leader and match-winner is completely in line with our team’s vision.” Salman said.
The franchise also thanked their outgoing captain Shan Masood for playing a solid role as Kings skipper.
“We are deeply grateful to Shan Masood for his exceptional leadership last season,” Salman said.
This will also be the first time that Warner will be featuring in the event.
Kings will face Multan Sultans in their opener on April 12 at National Bank Stadium Karachi.
Meanwhile record three-time champions Islamabad United revealed that their South Africa batsman Rassie van der Dussen will not be available for a few matches due to ‘personal reasons’.
“United is stood by its player in this testing time,” the franchise said.
United will pick Rassie’s substitution in the replacement draft which was scheduled to be held on Monday (today).
