LAHORE: Army and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) recorded easy victories in the quarter-finals of the Engro 52nd National Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship here at the Punjab Sports Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday.
Eight teams, qualified for the last eight, have been divided into two pools to play the round on league basis as each outfit will play three matches each.
Army bulldozed Punjab in three setters quite easily with the scores being 25-19, 25-13, 25-17. Punjab, though resisted in patches in all three sets, Army did not allow them to create any scare at any stage. Army, featuring a bunch of international players, impressed the audience with their power-back smashing and skillful game.
PAF proved too good in toppling a good side of Railways rather easily. Railways, which had made a flying start in the championship winning back to back matches, faced a big defeat of 25-14, 25-6, 25-8.
The matches between Navy and Higher Education Commission and WAPDA and KP will be played later in the night.
