By our correspondent

BARCELONA: Pakistan finished their European tour on a disappointing note when they were downed by Spain 5-3  in their second and final Test here as the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the first quarter Spain had a three goal lead. In the second quarter Mubashir and Rizwan scored one goal each with the help of short corners while Rana Waheed netted a field goal. The Spanish team scored two more goals.

During the tour Pakistan played a 1-1 drawn series against Holland before being demolished by world champion Belgium in their third game. In Spain the two-match series also ended in a 1-1 draw.

Siegfried Aikman, Pakistan coach, was happy with the way the Green-shirts made a fine effort to keep them in the hunt until the last minute.

“I am happy. In the last quarter we made some tactical adjustments and we dominated the quarter. We scored three and Spain netted their fifth. But with the tour we now know how to prepare for the Asia Cup. We can make it in the top ten and it will be helpful to show impression in Asia,” Aikman said.
