Tigers beat Stallions to make it to the KPL playoffs; Warriors overwhelm leaders Hawks

MUZAFFARABAD: Muzaffarabad Tigers defeated Bagh Stallions by four wickets in their fourth round fixture of the Kashmir Premier League to make it to the playoffs here on Thursday night.

Tigers raced to the 214-run target with eight balls to spare after losing six wickets in the process. Soahib Maqsood hammered a 40-ball 59, smacking eight fours and two sixes while Anwar Ali in the end played a fine knock, striking four sixes and two fours in his fantastic 19-ball 43 which eventually sealed a super win for the Tigers, their third from four games. Umaid Asif (2-44) and Amir Sohail (2-37) were the main wicket-takers.

Earlier, Baagh Stallions were restricted to 213-4 in the allotted 20 overs with Iftikhar Ahmed hitting a 38-ball 86 not out. He added 83 runs for the fifth wicket association with Aamer Yamin who chipped in with a rapid 21-ball 41 not out, hitting six fours and one six. Earlier skipper Shan Masood struck a fine 40-ball 65, hitting four sixes and the same number of fours to set a fine platform for Stallions to set a good target.

Mohammad Hafeez got 2-24. This was the third loss for Stallions in their quota of five matches. Earlier in the day Overseas Warriors defeated Rawalakot Hawks by seven wickets. Warriors chased the 146-run target the 14th over after losing three wickets. Nasir Nawaz hit 36-ball 56, which featured ten fours, and Naveed Malik smacked a 33-ball 45 with four fours and two sixes. Asif Afridi, left-arm spinner, got 2-29.

Earlier Rawalakot Hawks rode on the batting heroics of Umar Amin (54) and Hussain Talat (23) to pile up 145-9 in the allotted 20 overs. Young medium fast bowler Abbas Afridi got 5-18 in four overs. Sohail Khan captured 3-28 in nhis quota of four overs. This was the second win from Warriors from four games. This was the first loss for Hawks from five games. Hawks lead the table with seven points and are already in the playoffs.
