KARACHI:  An Italian cricketer of Pakistani origin Ammad Alam Khan has survived after being brutally attacked by unknown assailants in the city of Trieste, Italy.
According to media reports Ammad the other day was attacked by four unknown assailants and injured him severely by using bottles. He was then thrown into the sea in a critical condition.
God saved his life when a girl, passing by the sea, noticed him. She dived into the sea and saved his life by shifting him to the hospital. He had multiple stitches on his head. However according to sources his condition is out of danger.
“God has given him new life,” his uncle Jannisar Khan, himself a former Pakistan first-class cricketer, told from the United States.
The 27-year old Ammad is an all-rounder and plays for Brescia Cricket Club, Italy, which is based in Trieste city.
Ammad has also played for PIA Colts, Peshawar Under-19 and in Grade-II. He was also the skipper of Islamia College Peshawar cricket team. However due to various issues he went to Italy a few years ago and settled there permanently.
Reacting over the incident cricketers of Brescia Cricket Club in particular and the citizens of Trieste in general have demanded of the Trieste government to arrest the assailants immediately and punish them severely.
