DERBY: Paceman Sohail Khan claimed 3-42 in 16 overs to reduce PCB Greens to 162-5 in their first innings in response to PCB Whites’ total of 249 all out on the second day of their first four-day intra-squad game at the Incora County Ground here on Saturday.
Asad Shafiq was at the crease on 50 which he scored off 124 balls, having hammered five fours. Skipper Azhar Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed chipped in with 31 runs each. Fakhar Zaman (17), Abid Ali (10) and Sarfraz Ahmed (5) failed to offer more resistance with the willow. Fahim Ashraf (5*) was at the other end with Asad when stumps were drawn after 56 overs of the Greens innings. Shaheen Afridi (1-38 in 13) and Usman Khan (1-18 in 7 overs) also ably backed Sohail.
Earlier young pace sensation Naseem Shah sent a warning to England that he could be the key for Pakistan in the Test series when he got rid of Kashif Bhatti (15) and Usman Shinwari (1) to finish with impressive figures of 5-54 in 18 overs to dismiss PCB Whites for 249 in 94 overs in their first innings after resuming the day at 231-8. Stumper Mohammad Rizwan remained not out on 54. Rizwan, who started the day with his personal 41, smashed six fours in his 130-ball knock.
