Four-day intra-squad game: Abbas, Naseem restrict PCB Whites to 231-8

From our correspondent

DERBY:  Pacers Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah bowled superbly to enable PCB Greens to reduce PCB Whites to 231-8 at close in their first innings on the opening day of their first four-day intra-squad game at the Incora County Ground here today (Friday).

Abbas (3-34 in 19 overs) and Naseem (3-45 in 16 overs) bowled with great accuracy to keep PCB Whites under pressure on the entire day. Openers Shan Masood (42) and Imam-ul-Haq (41) provided a solid base to Whites by putting together 92 runs for the opening stand. However after Abbas removed Shan, held by Asad Shafiq, Whites kept losing wickets at regular intervals until the end, having failed to develop any other major partnership in the 90 overs.

Shan hammered four fours in his 86-ball knock for which he stayed 132 minutes at the crease. Imam, who was trapped lbw off Naseem, clobbered five fours from 134 balls. He stayed at the wicket for 169 minutes. In the lower middle order stumper Mohammad Rizwan was fighting as he was at the crease on solid 41 which came off 116 balls and had hit three fours.

Fawad Alam (24), Haider Ali (21) and Shadab Khan (16) were the other prominent contributors.

Leggie Yasir Shah showed some class, picking 2-40 in 16 overs. Faheem Ashraf conceded 49 runs in 16 overs while Wahab Riaz gave away 28 runs in ten overs.
