KARACHI: India have been ruthless over the years when it comes to playing at their own backyard. However former Australian spinner Brad Hogg believes that Pakistan are capable to beat India in India.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Hogg said Pakistan have the weapons in the shape of their potent bowling and batting, to beat India at the latter’s backyard. Besides that, Hogg said, Pakistan are well-versed with India’s conditions which also is a plus point for them.
“Well, I think the best team at the moment would be Pakistan because they have got a very strong pace unit and have got some good spinners. They also got depth in their batting and know the Indian conditions quite well,” said Hogg, the Chinaman.
There is no chance of the revival of India-Pakistan bilateral series keeping in view the prevailing political tension between the two neighbouring countries.
In 2007 Pakistan had last toured India for a series of three Tests and five one-day internationals.
Well-aware of the tension between the two nations the Australian left-arm spinner said that after Pakistan Australia have the capability to beat India on the latter’s soil due to their strong batting line-up.
“But they (Pakistan) can’t go over there for government reasons, so the next best team is Australia and I am not being biased. We have got the likes of David Warner,Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith. We have got a very potent batting line-up as well as a bowling line-up. I think if there is any chance of us beating India on Indian soil right now, it’s going to be over the next couple of years,” the 49-year old Hogg said.
Hogg has played seven Tests, 123 one-day international and 15 T20 International during his international career from 1996 to 2014.
