DUBAI: Pakistan’s premier professional boxer Mohammad Waseem reclaimed WBC world silver flyweight title when he defeated Rober Barrera of Colombia on Friday night here in Dubai.
This was also the WBA world title eliminator and this has put Waseem just one win behind what could be his first world crown.
“I would like to thank my trainers who prepared me strongly for this fight. I am happy to accomplish yet another milestone for Pakistan,” Waseem said. Waseem also hailed his fans for their support, adding fans support boosted his confidence.
Though, the Colombian Rober Barrera was boxing well, but he was always in immense pressure from an incoming Waseem, who was throwing and landing a lot of shots at him. In a 12-round fight between the two boxers, Muhammad Waseem prevailed, after which the judges unanimously declared the Pakistani fighter as winner.
