ABBOTTABAD: Army on Sunday were crowned champions of the 15th National Women Handball Championship which concluded at Kunj Stadium Abbottabad.
In the final, Army downed WAPDA 27-24. Higher Education Commission (HEC) got third place after beating Punjab 9-3.
Ayesha Dilshad from Army scored 17 goals and Nusrat Bano from WAPDA netted six goals. WAPDA were leading 13-12 at the breather. Police got fifth place after beating KP 12-9 whereas
AJ K claimed seventh spot after defeating Gilgit Baltistan 11-7. President KP Handball Association and vice-president Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) Bahre Karam Khan presented bronze medals to the HEC team.
Muhammad Musharraf Khan, DG WAPDA Sports Board gave away silver medals to WAPDA. Muhammad Tariq Khan, former DG KP Sports Board presented gold medals to Army. PHF president Muhammad Shafiq handed over trophies to the winners.Meanwhile on the final day national refresher handball coaching and referees course also concluded.
Javed Ahmad Memon gave away certificates to the participants. As many as 45 coaches and referees attended this course from the affiliated units of PHF.
