KARACHI: The standard of the National Women Football Championship on Tuesday was exposed when Masha United whipped Karachi Women FC 35-0.
Nepalese Anita KC was the highest scorer for Masha with 16 goals while Saru Limbu, also Nepalis, netted ten goals. Areeba scored a hat-trick for the Faisalabad-based club while Samroz Samreen, Gita Rana and Anjila Tumpabo Subba scored two goals each. Masha are now on top of Group B with nine points while Karachi United are second with a smaller goal difference but equal on points. Both teams are going to play against each other on Thursday.
Meanwhile Hazara Girls Football Academy confirmed a place in the quarter-finals when they beat Gilgit WFC 1-0 in their Group A match here at the KMC Stadium. For Hazara Girls FA Zohra Nasir scored a stunning winner from outside the box triggering emotional celebrations in the team’s dugout. Hazara Girls FA ended second in the four-team Group A behind WAPDA, who have won all their matches.
HEC got their first win at the championship when they beat Sialkot City Women FC 10-0. Anmol Hira was the star of the show for HEC with a hat-trick to her name while Samana Baig and Sidra scored a brace each. Tajda Parveen, Kulsum Badar and Meherngaz also contributed with a goal each.
