Shadab confident Pakistan would win both series against South Africa

KARACHI: Pakistan’s young allrounder and white ball brigade vice-captain Shadab Khan on Sunday said that they would try to continue with the winning streak against South Africa and win both the one-day and T20 series against the Proteas on the latter’s soil.

“We have a good team and the way we last beat South Africa in South Africa we would try to carry the same momentum and beat the hosts in both the series,” Shadab told a news conference.
“One-day series is very important and we need to win it convincingly as it is related to the World Cup qualifiers. The T20 is also important as it will help us prepare for the World Cup this year,” he said.
When asked about his own performance Shadab admitted that although there was no consistency in his performance but this time something different will be seen.

“I am now fit and have been working hard and you will see the desired performance from my side with both the bat and ball. Still I am a bowling allrounder and batting is my plus point. The way I started my career I will again put in my best to produce good performances with both bat and ball,” he said. “ Shadab said.
Pakistan will leave for South Africa on March 26 for a three-match one-day series and four-match T20 series starting from the first one-day in Pretoria from April 2.
When asked that the negative things appearing may be damaging the dressing room environment Shadab said they all are completely focussed on cricket.

“We mostly are focussed on cricket and don’t talk about such things,” said Shadab said. He said that Pakistan is building as a strong unit as it has back-ups everywhere. He said that those who would perform would play for the country.
He said that he does not feel any pressure of losing his place in the elite side, saying, it is not his team and the best would play.
He said that he would try to make a place in the test squad by playing in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He said that Hasan Ali would be missed as he is such character which lifts the team. Shadab said that quarantine period is no more an issue as they have now used to it, saying, it helps the ps pend re time h each other and understands each other properly.
