Ahsan, Tariq star in Zone VI emphatic win over Zone V

KARACHI: Ahsan Ali blasted a superb century while left-arm spinner Mohammad Tariq Khan bagged six wickets as Zone VI overwhelmed Zone V by nine wickets in their match of the City Cricket Association Tournament (Senior) here at the KCCA Stadium.

Ahsan slammed a fantastic 108 off 116 deliveries as Zone VI declared their first innings at 196-3 in response to Zone V’s  total of 144, for a lead of 52. Ammad Alam made a 61-ball 41, hitting four fours and two sixes. Saif Ali Khan, Junaid Ilyas and Moazzam Malik got one wicket each.  

After conceding lead Zone V’s batting once again failed to click and were skittled out for only 67 in the 18th  over to set just 16 runs target for Zone VI who achieved it after losing one wicket. Ahsan remained not out on 11. Spinner Tariq Khan did the main damage in Zone V’s second innings by taking 4-30 in six overs, for match-tally of 6-70. Off-spinner Raza-ul-Hasan got 3-7 in 5.3 overs.

Earlier left-arm spinner Arish Ali Khan picked 4-38 to dismiss Zone V for 144 in their first innings. Syed Fouz-ul-Hasan made 43 while Faizan Khan scored 23. Arish was ably backed by Tariq with 2-40 .
